Stuffed Potato Button Idli

  1. For preparing stuffed potato button idlis, we will need idli batter fermented overnight so the idlis will be soft.20161202_182509-1.jpg
  2. Cook 4 potatoes in a pressure cooker and finely chop onions and green chilies.

  4. In a pan,add oil,cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.20161202_182817.jpg
  5. Add onions and green chilies and saute till the onions turn light brown in color.20161202_182951.jpg
  6. Add turmeric, red chili powder and salt and stir for 2 minutes.20161202_18344020161202_18353020161202_183556
  7. Mash the cooked potatoes and add into the onions mixture. Stir well and remove from heat.20161202_183644.jpg20161202_184025.jpg
  8. Make small flat portions of the potato stuffing for the button idlis.20161202_184706.jpg
  9. In the idli plates,grease it with a little ghee & put a single layer of batter in it.Place the flat stuffing on it & seal with more batter.20161202_185009.jpg
  10. Put the idli plates in a pressure cooker (or idli cooker) and steam for 10 – 15 minutes. 20161202_185403.jpg
  11. Once cooked, remove and serve your stuffed button idlis with dry chutney or sambar !20161202_191600.jpg
